On April 23, an earthquake struck Ya'an city, Sichuan province of China, putting millions of people in urgent need for help. China Merchants Securities (CMS) responded to the situation swiftly by collecting information about the quake-stricken area through its business website in Chengdu and making a first-phase donation of RMB 1 million for post-disaster reconstruction through the affiliated charitable foundation.

According to a statement released by CMS, CMS will pay close attention to the disaster situation and provide more help when necessary, and hopes to bring along more enterprises and people to the disaster relief effort with its own actions.

Faced with a series of sudden disasters since 2008, CMS has made a number of donations to disaster-stricken areas through the affiliated charitable foundation and employee donation in a planned and efficient manner. The donations cover education, healthcare, psychological care, and urgently-needed materials.
